Scholarship


Scholarship Offered: Undergraduate/ Graduate

Article 1

The purpose of these guidelines is to encourage excellent international students to study at TransWorld University (TWU), which will help promote internationalization of the campus.

Article 2

“International students”, by definition, are referring to international degree-seeking undergraduate or postgraduate students.

Article 3

The maximum length of time a student can receive the scholarship is four academic years for students in undergraduate programs, and two academic years for students in master’s programs.

Article 4

Conditions for Freshman Applicants:

  1. Outstanding Students Scholarship
    1. International students enrolling as first-year students.
    2. Transferring students with a combined grade point average of accomplished years at a Taiwanese University or College at least 70, and have not received a written reprimand or more severe penalty as a result of misconduct.
  2. Elite Students Scholarship
    1. International students nominated by overseas partner institutions who agreed to cooperate with TWU.
    2. TWU undergraduate graduates admitted to master’s programs in TWU.

Article 5

Conditions for Current TWU Applicants:

  1. Outstanding Students Financial Aid
    1. Undergraduate students who have already completed at least one semester, in accordance with “TWU Course Selection Procedures”, with a combined grade point average of accomplished years at TWU of at least 75, and 82 for students’ moral conduct evaluation.
    2. Postgraduate students who have already completed at least one semester, in accordance with “TWU Course Selection Procedures”, with a combined grade point average of accomplished years at TWU of at least 80, and 82 for students’ moral conduct evaluation.
  2. Elite Students Financial Aid
    1. Undergraduate students who have already completed at least one semester, in accordance with “TWU Course Selection Procedures”, with a combined grade point average of accomplished years at TWU of at least 90, and 88 for students’ moral conduct evaluation. The students must be recommended by the Academic Head and their rankings are in the top 10 percent of the class for each semester of the preceding academic year.     2. Postgraduate students who have already completed at least one semester, in accordance with “TWU Course Selection Procedures”, with a combined grade point average of accomplished years at TWU of at least 90, and 88 for students’ moral conduct evaluation. The students must be recommended by the Academic Head and their rankings are in the top 20 percent of the class for each semester of the preceding academic year.   3. Those who received such a scholarship will be responsible for fulfilling services in assisting with administrative and teaching affairs or any relevant duties not less than 40-hour services allocated by respective Department/ Graduate Institute or the Office of International & Cross-strait Affairs.

Article 6

The number of scholarships awarded per year, and the value of the scholarships: The number of scholarships depends on the available budget; if the budget available is greater, there will be more scholarships awarded, and vice versa. The available funds will come from the University, and may be supplemented with grants or from outside sources.

Article 7

Application Process:
Applicants shall submit the documents to the Office of International & Cross-strait Affairs before the beginning of each Semester as follows:
1. One copy of the application form.
2. Transcript of the previous semester and moral conduct evaluation (only applicable to current TWU students).
3. Transcript of the previous semester and moral conduct evaluation issued by a Taiwanese University or College (only applicable to transferring students).
4. A photocopy of the applicant’s student identification card.

Article 8

Examination Process:
A Selection Committee will be in charge of determining the amount of recipients and of the scholarships’ amounts. The Committee will notify the recipients before class registration; after registration is complete, the recipients will receive the scholarship money.

Article 9

A Taiwan Scholarships recipient will exclude him or her from eligibility for the TWU International Student Scholarship mentioned here.

Article 10

All awards will end by the time when their specified award period is completed. However, if recipients graduate, drop out, are expelled from TWU, or their scholarships are revoked due to academic misconducts and tuition & fees payment deferral, whichever comes first, the award will be terminated.

Article 11

If there is any inaccuracy in the application process, or the existence of invalid or counterfeit checks received in payment of tuition or other school fees, the award of a scholarship will be revoked immediately.

Article 12

The policy is approved of the Administration Meeting of TWU and issued by the University President. The same procedures shall apply for its update.
